New Patchwork Wristlets

I spent the last couple days making a handful of new patchwork wristlets. Chainsaw says they remind him of old school Hot Butter, and I totally agree! Maybe that's why I love them so much?

I only made enough sweet rainbow patchwork for one, and I adore it! I have a huge crush on this bright yellow corduroy. I made Laura a guitar strap out of it last time she was here. It's very wide wale and totally pettable!

This blue corduroy is also luxurious!

This is the first one I made. It has boxed corners. I decided to try one without boxed corners, and I'm sure you can tell which version I decided was the most glorious.

I also made a couple red ones.

I found several 18 inch scraps in my bin because I buy half yard cuts. I cut those into 1 to 1.5" strips, sewed them together, and had extra large patchwork pieces. From there it was a snap to make a couple wristlets out of each piece. Super easy and super cute! I'll be adding these to my shop in the near future.

Are you doing anything fun this weekend? I'll be working for the most part and will have more fun stuff to share soon!

Scrappy Heart Pouches

IMG_0700

I made a few more of these babies!

IMG_0684

It was a little tricky figuring out how to get the zipper in the side seam/making it not look like a fool.

IMG_0670

They're a little odd shaped for a pouch, but a rainbow loving lady could find more than enough stuff in her purse to fill one of these sweet, sweet pouches of love! :D They're in my shop already if you'd like to check them out!

I started work on some patchwork wristlets yesterday, but I need to go to the store due to my sad lack of interfacing. I used all the larger pieces from my scrap bin.

Happy 1/11/11!

Colorful Patchwork Pouches for Ladies with Secrets

I spend last week working on these fun patchwork pouches.

IMG_0587

I spent a whole day embroidering linen scraps, which was super fun. I love "work" crafting that involves sitting on my butt watching "This American Life" on Netflix.

IMG_0553

I spent the good part of another day making log cabin style patchwork around the linen.

And another day turning them into pouches. It was pretty fun watching them come together. You can check out the rest on my flickr page or in my shop.

Next scrap project- Heart Pouches!

IMG_0644

This is my first one. It's a little wonky on the side where the zipper meets the curve of the heart. Details!

I hope you all had a lovely weekend. I'm still full from the delicious breakfast I took my fambly out to feast on!

New Scrappy Wallets

Hi friends!

I'm pleased to announce that I've made some new card wallets out of scraps, which is how I made my first set of wallets. I think these guys are so cute!

Scrappy Card Wallets

This one is my favorite:

Scrappy Card Wallet

I also finished a quilt block for Rachel of p.s. i quilt. It was a string block, which I've always thought look super cool. I also thought they looked scary hard, and I was surprised to find out that they aren't!

For Rachel

It was a bit time consuming though. One was fun, but I'm not sure I'd ever find the time to do more than that. Good call on using the quilting bee to get one done!

I also had to go issue an apology for being a bad, bad quilting bee participant. I'm pretty ashamed of myself for holding finished blocks (some from this spring) and packages of fabric hostage for a long time. As much as I think quilting bees are super cool and a fun idea, I probably won't be signing up for another one. I hope my quilting bee friends can forgive me!

Also, stop by tomorrow for my 100th post giveaway. I'm still coming up with my giveaway prizes and am considering doing a few. See you tomorrow!

Zippered Card Wallets and a GIVEAWAY

The giveaway is closed!

I designed these cuties the other day:

Zippy Card Wallets

I think I mentioned them, but they were created entirely from my scraps. Even the interfacing was scrap pieces. Boy am I glad I saved all those random pieces of interfacing. Although I'm not to happy with the wrinkles it created on the inside. See?

Yellow Patchwork Zippy Card Wallet

I'm thinking I'll try sewing in flannel for the next batch.

Zippy Card Wallets

These are perfect for use in a wristlet. I "bought" a wristlet from myself to go out last month, and I've been using it all the time (not just to go out). I keep all my necessities in it, which isn't much. ID, debit card, a little cash, my lip glosses and balms (which are now in an adorable pouch!), a pen, phone, and keys all fit with room to spare. I guess that sounds like a lot of stuff, but it's all small stuff. My regular sized purse is always full of crap, and I like how using the wrislet makes me actually remove receipts and shopping lists before it's packed full of them. However, there's always a pile of change at the bottom, and I don't like having my ID and debit card just floating around all willy nilly.

In the spirit of May Day, I'd like to offer one of these cuties up for a give away! Tell me which is your favorite (as long as it's not the yellow one. I already claimed it!), and I'll draw a winner in the morning. Here is how you can gain entries:

1. Comment with your favorite. Your favorite can be the yellow and orange, but tell me your NEXT favorite also.

2. Blog about it and leave an extra comment with a link.

3. Tweet about it and leave an extra comment with a link. You could follow me while you're at it, but no pressure!

4. Any purchases made from my shop today will earn THREE extra entries. You'll have to leave a comment for each entry. It'll make random number generating much easier.

Here are all the color choices you can pick from:

Red Patchwork Zippy Card Wallet

Patchwork Zippy Card Wallet
Blue/Purple/Yellow

Pink Patchwork Zippy Card Wallet

Giveaway cut off is tomorrow morning at 8:00 am Mountain time. I'm going to the post office in the morning, so it will be sent right away. Yay!

Patchwork

When I went through my scrap box to find fabric to ship out for the quilting bee, I was pleasantly amazed by the large array of scrap fabric I actually have. It's also funny to me what construed a scrap in the beginning of my sewing adventure. I found large tracts of cute fabric in there. Nowadays only relatively small scraps end up in there. It was like shopping for fabric in my own basement. Weee! So what makes a scrap a scrap to you?

I actually cut into yardage to patchwork this purse last week.

Patchwork Bag

I adore it, but I have now seen the error of my ways. I've spent all day immersed in piles of scraps making little scrappy wallets. I'm excited to share them with you, but I need to run to the store for more snaps. Unfortunately there are no scrap snaps.

I also scrapped together this cutie:

Patchwork birdie pouch

Here is the pouch resulting in from my flyer applique:

Denim clothesline pouch

It makes me so happy to see it in my purse!

I can't believe I almost forgot to mention this, but HAPPY BIRTHDAY KRIS!

Kris and Ross

Sorry I couldn't find that many awesome pictures, but both Kris and my little brother Ross are clean in this picture. What more could you ask for?

So happy birthday to this lady who is brave enough to hang out with my dad full time (and even marry him!).

New things in the shop. Free shipping for mamas still applies!
