10. Pizza

We had homemade chicken bacon ranch spinach artichokey pizza for dinner last night. What's your favorite? I'm thinking about starting an official weekly pizza night.

New wallets will be ready tomorrow along with vintage button earrings. I can't wait to show off how cute they are!

Window Shopping

I really want to put up curtains in my house. Felix needs them badly, as he takes much nicer naps without the pesky afternoon sun lighting up his room, and I really want some downstairs. Curtains are expensive, so I've been considering making my own with vintage sheets. I need to go look through my sheet stash, but I thought it would be fun to window shop for vintage sheets.

I love these from etsy shop JaneSaysVintage.

I think I might buy that gold one, but that might mean that I'm not window shopping but actually shopping!

I totally love this vintage sheet fat quarter set from VintageUrbanGirl, but I don't think I could get a curtain out of those!

Ooh, this one is AWESOME. It's from SamhainGrl73, but it's a little spendy for a vintage sheet. Or maybe I'm a little cheapy? :D

So I'm not going to let myself buy any for now. I need to see what I've got and/or hunt for my own. However, if all else fails I'll rely on the thrifting luck of someone else and buy one or two.

Happy Saturday!

Owl Scowl

One of my Style School goals was to make my house feel more homey and comfortable. We've lived in our house for more than 3 years, and it's never really felt like home.

I've already started buy hanging more stuff on the walls. The walls in my bathroom were totally naked, so I hung this glorious owl portrait above my bathtub. It was a $3 thrift score.

Thrifted Owl Art

Aren't they adorable? I love animals with mean/grumpy looking faces.

Thrifted Owl Art

I seriously love the scowl on that baby owl. OWL SCOWL!

That's also why I love Persian cats.

Anyway, I found this on a Style School classmate's blog:

Isn't it lovely?! There's even a tutorial. I showed it to the Chainsaw, and he's on board. Now I need to find the perfect wall.

I'm going to go get to work on some new wallets. Hope you're having a lovely Friday!

Pocket Pillow

This was a bonus project for Style School that was posted before school started.

Pocket Pillow

I stole the shirt from the closet. Ok, so I asked Chainsaw if I could use it because I don't remember ever seeing him wear it. He said yes ONLY after I told him I was going to make a present for him.

Pocket Pillow

I embroidered our initials in a heart on the pocket. I then bestowed it upon Chainsaw with a secret sexy poem in the pocket. Felix wants me to use the other pocket to make one for him!

I'm currently working on some heart pouches. I'll have a couple Love Bullets and something completely new to show tomorrow!

My Craftstume

T-Shirt Headband by me
Hemp Necklace made by Laura
Righteous Lion T-Shirt
Bright Lipstick

I am ready to CRAFT.

Buttons!

I was lucky enough to score a variety of vintage buttons in South Dakota last week.

Vintage Buttons

These were from an antique store with jars of buttons organized by color. You got to dump them out and pick your own winners for five cents a pop. I counted them myself, and the lady at the counter was so happy she actually gave me several for free. I do prefer this method to buying a whole jar of who knows what, although I do love the thrill of dumping a jar.

Vintage Buttons

These pink ladies were from a different antique store. They were in little packages of five for $1.

Vintage buttons

How pretty are these? I have no idea what I paid for them, but I'm sure it was more than 60 cents!

These are from a jar dump.

I love these metal guys.

Junk

This is the junk that came out of the jar, including by not limited to old crayon pieces, rocks, pins, clip on earring backs, upholstery screw thingies, zipper parts, dirty fabric covered buttons, etc.

I washed all the cool paired buttons and will be making earrings soon! I don't think I even got any pictures of my vintage button earrings that I brought to the craft fair on account of they sold like nobody's business. The hardest part is letting some of the cool ones go out in the world without me, but I know they're hanging out with cool ladies.

I'm planning on giving some away soon!

10 Things

I was looking forward to making my escape from South Dakota today, but the blizzard I wished away decided to show up this morning. It's mostly no big whoop (just a little snow!), but the "locally damaging" winds gives the snow a hug and creates a wall of invisibility. Grr. Guess we'll be going home tomorrow.

I'm going to do my own 10 things I love Sunday for funsies and cheer.

1.

This adorable print from printspace featuring two of my favorite creatures. So cute!

2.

Pretty headbands on pretty girls! This one is from Mandizzle.

3.

Mustachiod ladies

My best girl Laura. This is her last day in this land. Tomorrow she's moving to South Korea. I miss her already, but I'm so excited for her and her new adventures.

4.

Becky from Strumpets Crumpets. She special ordered a Love Bullets pouch from me a bit ago, and I've been spending way too much time reading her blog as far back as I can.

I love:
how cute she is.
how generous she is to her family.
how much she loves her family.
her cute crafts (like these granny squares).

Hope she doesn't mind me putting her grill on my blog! :D

5.

Pretty girls with cool tattoos! I want more tattoos in a bad way, but am not exactly rich enough for it. Maybe someday.

Thrifty! Thrifty! Read all about it!

Oven Safe Bowls

Pretty bowls/mugs I got at a consignment store Monday. They're going to look so cool in my red and orange house.

Ties from the antique store

Fancy vintage ties from the antique store. These are for an upcoming Style School project.

I have no idea why I have such great thrift/consignment/antique luck in South Dakota. Maybe it's because thrifting is so "cool" in the Boulder area that I almost can't afford it. I refuse to pay what I could pay for something new for something old/used, if that makes sense.

Everything that is cool

is in this post.

I finally made myself the green hat I've been needing ever so badly.

My green hat
Pattern

Seriously you guys, ever since Jeffrey gave Laura a beautiful green hat, my heart has been full of envy. I bought myself some bright green yarn before Christmas, started it yesterday, finished it this morning. Actually, I wasn't leaving the house until it was finished because my hair was bad. I'm not sure if the beautiful green is shining through quite right in this picture, but it has stolen my heart.

I did a little thrifting yesterday and today. Today I won this sweet sweatshirt:

Glitter Tiger

Ok, so I actually paid $1 for it, but I would have paid $1000 for it. There's some "beauty" setting on my new digital camera that's supposed to smooth out your features, and I think the Chainsaw was using it on me in these photos. Something is masking the brightness of the shirt (matches my new hat pretty well!) and the fact that the tiger is outlined in glitter. Yes, I said glitter. This needs washed, and next time I wear it I'll try to document the sparkles a little better.

I'm slacking off in Style School as I'm in South Dakota "babysitting" my sister Alyssa while my parents are in Mexico. Can't wait to get home and get to work!

I'm so Gilighted you're here!

I used to have so much time to be lazy. I'm not sure where it went, as I've been the the busiest ever lately.

I started exercising with Laura a couple weeks ago, and that's one thing I'm trying very hard to make time for every day. I broke up with cigarettes almost 12 days ago, and my jeans were getting a smidge snug anyway. I was going to use my money saved by not buying cigarettes to get a gym membership, but I discovered I have a free gym in my tv. We started recording Gilad videos.

Laura saw a commercial for him that said something like "nobody can resist this Israeli heartthrob," and they were totally right. He'll make you suffer, but he'll do it with you. I rate Gilad at an 11 out of 10, that's how cool he is. I'm not sure if I've lost any weight, but I am sure that that I've been feeling stronger and healthier. I've been sleeping better and feeling much more cheerful.

I've also been keeping super busy with Style School, and I decided to end my holiday sewing vacation. Of course, we're leaving for South Dakota again tomorrow, so it'll be another week of sewing vacation. I'll have to make sure to spend some time designing new stuff so I'll be ready to get to work right away when we get home.

Hope you're having a great Friday!

Photo Wall Art

My next Style School project was photo wall art.

This one features some faux polaroids and some of my favorite pictures.

Photo Wall Art

Looks good with my wreath, eh?

Photo Wall Art

Pardon flashes and reflections. I should have taken a photo before I put the glass in, but it was hard getting the nail through the itty bitty hole on the back of the frame. I opted not to take it down for a do-over.

Also, tell your heart to stop beating so fast over that picture of Felix Beverly. That kid looks so good in a mullet that it's scary.

Faux Vintage Brooch Wreath

Here are some pictures of my first completed Style School project, the Faux Vintage Brooch Wreath. I have to admit that I wasn't super excited about this project. Burning questions uh, burned at my brain. A wreath? Are those cool? Why would I want to spend my time on something like that?

faux vintage brooch wreath

Well, I think it turned out pretty cool.

I made my flowers with security envelopes and vintage buttons. It looks pretty nice on my wall. I can tell that this Style School business is going to help me make use of some naked wall space.
