Snappy Lappy Bag

I made this lap top bag from the dress I dissected this week. It has its faults, but it's my first try.



This is also my first try at putting in a pocket with a zipper. It was both easier and trickier than I expected, if you can imagine that. My stitching is a little ugly, and I can see why invisible thread is recommended for such a project. Anyway, I love it!

I interlined it with a layer of fusible fleece and lined it with a piece of chenille I've had for forever to make it a soft, luxurious ride for my lap top. The pocket is to put my charging equipment in, and the pockets are from leather furniture samples my friend Eliza gave me.

In other news, I added some love bullets pouches and pocket clutches to my shop. :D Happy Friday night!

Pocket Clutch

When I bought the owl pouch from Keyka Lou last week, I also bought the pattern for the Pocket Clutch, which is super adorable. I made a few, one being a birthday present for a dear OLD friend. So avert your eyes if you want a surprise, Katie! :D



I got another yard of this sweet, sweet mushroom fabric that everyone seems to love, and it is adorable.

It looks like this inside:



It has a little pocket on the front and closes with a magnetic snap. It feels very, very nice in my hand. I have to give this pattern two huge thumbs up as it was fairly easy and super brilliant.

This one is the present, for my friend who loves Wizard of OZ.



I saved this little piece of Oz fabric just for the occasion. I love it and hope she does too!

I made another out of a vintage sheet, which is so pretty.



They are really small but would be perfect if you're packing light or to keep things organized in your purse. I'm still trying to decide what fabrics to make mine out of. I'm considering enlarging the pattern a bit and making a big one!

Fancy Vintage Clutches

I've been finding vintage clutches at thrift stores like nobody's business. I think they are adorable all on their own, but I decided to fancy a couple up for fun this week.



I embroidered a red feather on this camel colored clutch. It actually has a nice strap attached to the zipper. Does that make it a wristlet?



This is a smaller, velcro closed clutch. There is a scuff on the front, and the corners have some of their black worn off. I'm considering buying some leather care stuff and fixing them. What do you think about that? Is part of the vintage magic in their age scuffs?

My goals for today are to make some birthday presents for my mom and another cute dress for myself!

Gotta keep it short and sweet, but I just wanted to show off what I've been up to.

Eeek!

I did something today that I wish I could go back in time and undo.



I cooked my own meat a little bit on the iron. I seriously wouldn't have done that. I was just trying to finish these adorable (if I may say so myself) clutches that I've made over the last two days.



Pardon the flashy photo, but it's dark and I wanted to have something to show for my day's work. I plan on taking more better photos tomorrow.

Speaking of which, last night I attended DHA's FIRST photography workshop, Photography Is Your Friend! I was mostly a quiet observer, picking up all kinds of good advice from the answers to other people's questions, but I am super excited to use what I learned last night. Hopefully Hot Butter! will have much nicer etsy photos soon!

I made a quick stop at the thrift store the other day and discovered just what I wanted.



I needed a big like this for a Style School project, and I found it for $1.50. I was etsy hunting similar bags and couldn't make myself spend $20-50-more on one.

I also found some vases for a project for 25 cents each, a bunch of glorious ties for 50 cents each (including one I figured out was a fancy silky expensive tie that I'll probably cut up anyway!), etc. I spent $4. I used to avoid that thrift store because it's small and busy, but the prices are so good I will no longer pass up the opportunity to stop if I have cash money in my pocket.

So the mini craft fair at the office yesterday was, for the most part, a bust! I didn't actually sell anything. I did get a couple requests, including one actual order if I can make a crayon roll for fat crayons. I think I can handle that.

I did do some tradesies with my homie Dani from Dani Girl Boutique. I got a few super cute books she made and 2 record bowls. My step mom already called dibs on one of those, even though "it will probably make your dad cry." Do people really cry over records melted into bowls? I cry with glee at their majesty, but not in sadness as my dad is presumed to do.

I also bought some nice smelling bath bombs and hand made soap from my table neighbor. I'm excited to try some for myself. Maybe this afternoon if the toddler meat decides to make my day and take a nap?

I bought a snap setter last weekend, and I am in love. My old snap setter was just that- OLD. I bought it off of ebay a while ago, and the few times I tried to use it, it decided that we weren't friends. I now have the kind you bang with a hammer, which is actually super fun! Sometimes I really need to beat at something I'm making with a hammer towards the end of its creation.

I reopened the shop after vacationing it yesterday so I could take everything to the craft fair. I decided to slightly reduce my prices. It's hard deciding how much my time is worth to me, and I decided that I could go a little lower without feeling like I'm robbing myself.
