These two are from Rae and Dana's Celebrate the Boy business, which I've been watching and have to admit that these are the first projects I want to make really bad. I think it's just because most of the stuff I put tons of time and effort into making Felix is never used. :( I think he'll like these two a lot though!



This pretty tshirt refashion from this tutorial from Crissybell. We are new blog friends (hope I'm not being too forward!) and I'm so happy about all the cute things she makes.

I have to admit that I have another elastic waist skirt cut out also! What are you making this weekend?

Weekend Goals

I usually waste my weekends. Like I spend all week watching Felix, sewing, cleaning, blah blah blah, and the weekend comes, Chainsaw isn't working, and I do pretty much nothing. I do sleep in one day, usually Sunday if you need to know which morning is more kosher for early (and by early I mean after 8:30) morning calling. I have friends whose kids wake up while it's STILL DARK. Not mine, ladies, and if he does wake up while it's still dark, he can turn the light on and play with his toys until Mama's ready to drag herself out of bed.



Not this weekend, kids! Ok, I do still plan on sleeping at least until 8:00am or longer on Sunday. It's good to stay consistent on some things, right? So here are my goals:

1. Measure windows. I want to make curtains. I haven't found the right fabric/sheets yet, but knowing the measurements I need will be a step in the right direction, right?

2. Make this skirt from Freshly Picked.

That looks so easy that even I should be able to do it! I think all I would need is some big ol' elastic. Which brings me to..

3. Go to the craft store in Boulder. I've looked everywhere that craft supplies are sold in my town for yellow piping and the perfect black and white fabric to make a ring bearer pillow (for a dog!) for a friend (of a friend)'s wedding. She also asked me to make card wallets for her bridesmaid gifts, so maybe I should add the making of 7 wallets to my to do list.

4. Pick a Style School project to work on. I can't believe Style School is pretty much over. :( At least I have managed to stretch it out indefinitely by having tons of projects that I'm behind on.

The thrifted linen strikes again

I've been working hard to make that pair of linen pants into as many cool things as possible. Here are the creations I've finished today:



I love this one. I found a ginormous jumble of this lace at a thrift store. I'm assuming it's old because it looks it. It also looks super pretty.

I also decided to try my hand at some embroidered change pouches, like this one:

Um, I like hearts, ok?

I also finished a couple more Love Bullets pouches with red guns, but you know what those look like.

You guys are blowing me away on the giveaway post. The clothesline seems pretty popular. I'm thinking I should make some more. Maybe one with all undies?!? Sorry, but the undies are my favorite part. My family home didn't have air conditioning until after I moved out (like right after, thanks for all the suffering ma!), so we had to hang all our clothes out to dry. Dryers = hot house. My mom always said to hang the undies in the back so the passersby couldn't see them. Consider upcoming undies pouches my late rebellion!

Some things I'm going to work on:

1. Make a sweet list of all the blogs that promoted my give away and post it here. I haven't had time to check them all out, but I've seen some pretty cool stuff on the ones I have looked at.

2. Shop update. I know I said Sunday, but I might try to put a few things up sooner. I have to wait until after the drawing to list the pouches in the giveaway post. One of them won't be available because it will be living at your house or wherever you decide it needs to live. The winner will have the huge responsibility of deciding if they're going to keep it for themselves (and if so, what you're going to do with it!) or give it to a friend. I am the tangent master!

3. Relax. I think I'm going to do this one first. :D

Wrap up

I spent all morning running around the greater Boulder area in search of those last few Christmas gifts. We were at the Celestial Seasonings tea factory, the liquor store (grandma needs her acky-juice, or wine, if you're over 3), the mall to pick up my newly soldered rings, the thrift store, and the library. I have a feeling that nap time will go smoothly today after doing all that this morning!

So today's to do:

1. Sip a mug or two of Sugar Cookie Sleigh Ride herbal tea.

2. Take the draft snake that I accidentally made too small, rip stitches, make longer.

3. Put together Christmas gifts. There are many pouches that need filled with goodies.

4. Start wrapping- if I have time!

Oh, I forgot to mention the slight altercation I had at the thrift store today. I found a pair of shoes that I liked. They did not look "new" in any way, scuffed up a bit, inside wear, but in good condition. Shoes cost 99 cents, "new" shoes cost $2. The lady charges me $2. I asked her why she charged me for new shoes, and she tried to convince me that they were brand new. I showed her the scuffs. She told me that someone could have done that trying them on in the store.

It ended with me saying "Whatever." I know it's only $1 and the thrift store supports the food bank, but still. They charge way too much for most things, like sheets ($5 per sheet, fo reals?) and used towels for $6? I don't like it when the thrift store puts me in a bad mood. I guess I did get a "new" pair of shoes for $2, and Felix loaded up on books. At least they got the price right on those. I can handle 25 cents per board book, no problem.
