Hidden danger of curly hair and bangs: Hot dancing action makes me sweat, which makes my bangs wet, which makes them get curly, which made this really hot guy with a mullet refuse to speak to me. I put my best moves on him and only got the twinkle of his gold earring as a reply.

Part two coming soon! I'm doing a smidge of a Hot Butter break. I just had that trip, and now this weekend I'm leaving to spend some time with my family. I'm going to do my best to keep blogging, even if I'm not actively creating.

Anywho, rummage sale bounty plus more in my next post.

Lost Lake

We went on a mountainous hiking adventure on Monday.

I was wearing sunglasses most of the time. Usually sunglasses give me a headache, but these garage sale glasses turn the world a magic color. My attempt to share the wonder:

IMG_7627

Yes, I shot it through my sunglasses.

IMG_7632

A good portion of our hike was through this cold white stuff or it's brother, cold melted snow water. The snow was heavy and wet, so there were many slips and occasional breaks through the crust into the freezing water underneath.

At long last we reached our goal, Lost Lake.

IMG_7686

Yes, part of the lake is still icy on top.

IMG_7698

I would love to go on this hike again in a month or so, when the snow is melted and the sun is hotter, which would make that cold mountain lake water feel really good!

Felix and I are going to go visit family in South Dakota tomorrow. I'll try to keep up here while I'm gone, but I can't make promises. I hope you're having a great week!

Fancy Vintage Clutches

I've been finding vintage clutches at thrift stores like nobody's business. I think they are adorable all on their own, but I decided to fancy a couple up for fun this week.

IMG_7497

I embroidered a red feather on this camel colored clutch. It actually has a nice strap attached to the zipper. Does that make it a wristlet?

IMG_7511

This is a smaller, velcro closed clutch. There is a scuff on the front, and the corners have some of their black worn off. I'm considering buying some leather care stuff and fixing them. What do you think about that? Is part of the vintage magic in their age scuffs?

I'll be listing these in my shop soon!

My goals for today are to make some birthday presents for my mom and another cute dress for myself!

Pen Pal Swap

I keep forgetting to post about the super fun pen pal swap hosted by Apron Thrift Girl that I did in April, which I believe was National Letter Writing Month.

The mission was to handwrite a letter on recycled material and send it in a recycled envelope.

This is what I received from Lisa at Parallel-Botany.

Pen Pal Swap

The letter was written on a Tyvek envelope, which Lisa says can't be recycled. She stitched "GREETINGS" across the top with cotton lace weight yarn.

Pen Pal Swap

It is super beautiful and very creative. It made me feel like a bit of a chump, as all I sent her was a silly story about meeting a raccoon in a dumpster on the back of a menu from the dispensary I clean once a week.

Anyway, thank you Lisa for the beautiful letter and Selena for hosting!

Hot Butter was featured!

A friend of mine impressed her friends at L & B Yarn Co. with one of my pouches, and they featured me on their blog!

Hot-Butter_1

Please stop by and check out their website if you like yarn. Tell them I said hi!

I also wanted to let you guys know that I created a page on Facebook for Hot Butter. Go "Like" it if you have a second. I'll be posting shop updates and special deals there!
