Adventures!

Last Sunday we took Felix to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, which I think Chainsaw and I liked way more than he did. We specifically took him to see dinosaur bones, and he chose that whole section of the museum to whine about finding a water fountain. Oh well.

SDC11595

I would like to note that Felix dresses himself most days. We had to fight him to wear pants that day, but the tank top stayed! He is sporting one limited edition "Arts and Cats" button made by Becky's Buttons.

SDC11603

I told you guys this butter was hot! :P

SDC11608

This is the one where I told Chainsaw to hold this dinosaur like he loved it. Sea turtle friend in the background was a super happy coincidence!

I also got a few awesome shots of some dioramas before my camera battery started crying and took a nap.

SDC11643

This one is dark, but I like how I caught Chainsaw in a mid Felix scare!

SDC11646

You forgot to put in the crystals!

SDC11650

Look at how itty he looks!

SDC11652

Also got some bangs today, if you're interested. I've been thinking about it for a while and this morning I decided today was the day!

Wallets on a Journey

This group of wallets (and some of their friends) is on its way to South Dakota as my first group of items being sold in a real store.

IMG_6843

I'll try to post something more better later today. I've been super busy getting those bad boys on their way to SD, along with helping Jeffrey off to Korea this morning, which involved getting up at 5:30 am to perform one of my cleaning jobs.

Anyway, I might have to join in on nap time in a bit.

Caps in the shop

I got some brighter light to work with yesterday and therefore was able to put a these in my shop:

SDC11582

SDC11570

SDC11564

These two hats are fully reversible and fully awesome. :D

Speaking of awesome, I have a crush on my new header, created by my lovely friend Melissa. I asked her to make an ad for me, and she made me a bonus header! Anyway, I heart it big time. If you're reading this in a feed, click on through and see how beautiful it is.

We're going to the Museum of Nature and Science today to see the dino bones.

Thrift Scores

I thrifted these adorable red sandals the other day.

SDC11515

They are a 9 1/2, which is at least half a size too big, if not a whole size. I put them on at home, and Felix asked if they fit. I said no, and he asked me if it was because I have Fred Flintstone Feet like him. Ha! I'm hoping I can get some inserts or something to help them fit.

I also got this beauty for $10.

SDC11526

It was dark when I took this (from a funny angle, at that!), but it's awesome. It looks kind of like a high bench, has two drawers, and these cool compartments on top. The top closes over these, and has already been slammed on somebody's fingers. Somebody who cried about it. A lot. This somebody still thinks it's an appropriate place to keep his spider ring. Whatever.

I'm trying to get some of the old furniture stink out of it. I also need to vacuum out those compartments. I can't even pretend they're clean.

SDC11505

Sneak peek at four hats I finished today and yesterday. These have fully functional reverse features, which I'm excited about. Hopefully I'll find a few minutes of light to take better pictures of these tomorrow, after I iron the tar out of them. :D

Holy 200!!

That's right, this is my 200th post.  :D

I have a giveaway in the works, but I need to finish something up first.

SDC11491

Aren't these hat scraps adorable? They're the little notches I cut out on the brims of a few hats I started yesterday. They look like pretty confetti on my cutting mat. I have been unable to throw them away, but now that they've been documented I think I can bear to toss them!

SDC11492

Does this happen to you? You're just minding your own business, doing a topstitch, THE LAST TOPSTITCH AND YOUR PROJECT IS FINISHED, when you run out of bobbin thread? What really gets my goat is that I often don't realize until I think I'm done. The triumph sets in and is killed instantly.

SDC11497

I just pet this and feel better. Then I rewind my bobbin and finish the dang thing.

Ok, it's SUPER dark today on account of the rain. Apparently Mother Nature decided to take a several day long shower. Hopefully she brightens up a bit and I can get some good photos later. Give away soon!!

New cap

I bought this pattern from etsy user Shara Lamberth Designs the other night.  I made it today, and it is lovely.

SDC11479

It's reversible, but the fabric I used on the other side puckered a bit here and there and my topstitching is highly visible and not even close to perfect. Oh well, what do I need that boring side for when I have this beautiful side made from a vintage sheet.

SDC11488

Felix and I spent yesterday morning cruising Pearl Street in Boulder looking for a birthday present for our friend Galileo, who turned TWO yesterday. Some of the tulips were blooming and too pretty to pass up for a photo.

SDC11448

The party was at a park nestled almost right against the mountains, and apparently us humans aren't the only ones who enjoy it!

SDC11450

This notice is on the bear proof trash cans.

SDC11457

Notice anything here? Apparently Super Lahja loves his cape and rarely takes it off. That sure filled my heart with glee. Felix only uses his on occasion!

SDC11463

We sure had a fun day, despite the fact that it was chilly and overcast for most of the afternoon.  Thank you to Galileo for being cool enough to turn two and to Brooke and Russel for the super fun party.  Felix would like to do it again today!  :D

Things I would like to make:

I think I need a Spring Ruffle Top.

Some people I know might need Coffee Cozies.

Who doesn't need a Rice Heat Therapy Bag?

I really, really need to make this skirt, bad.

Off to do some creating.  What do you want to make?

Weekend Highlights

SDC11402

Here's me at the Ballyhoo with my half a table. Apparently I REALLY need a full size table, but this was my second choice and what I got. :D There was a photographer at the event who emailed me saying he would have some pictures to share soon.

SDC11403

Here's another shot of my table from my point of view. I need to photograph and list the hair pieces I haven't shared with yous guys.

The fair went pretty well. I was unprepared for the fact that it was only 60 degrees and the garage we were in was open to the outside world. BRRR! I'm going to start packing extra clothing and wearing layers to fairs, even when I think it's going to be nice. I can always remove layers, but I can't go back in time and put them on (believe me, Melissa and I came up with all kinds of things we would have done if we could have gone back in time).

Special thanks to everyone who showed up, and extra super special thanks to my fabulous customers.

Chainsaw, Felix, Nana and I went on a lovely walk on the Coal Creek trail yesterday.

SDC11410

Why yes, Chainsaw is carrying a bag of pug poop. :P

SDC11413

SDC11417

SDC11429

Felix and Nana got wet!

Anyway, I'm enjoying a day with zero crafty pressure. Back to the grind tomorrow I guess. I also have a bunch of wallets that I never got listed to share. I need to do some photography stat!

Anybody have a good cap pattern?

I really want a cap, but I feel like I want to make one rather than buy.

Something like this:

Or this?

Or maybe this?

These photos and caps all courtesy of my friends at www.anthropologie.com.

Shoot, I might have to buy that black one.

ANYWAY, I looked on etsy and found a couple.  Do any of you have a trusty cap pattern you'd like to tell me about?

I'll be back later with my Ballyhoo report!

On my way to the fair

I've got my fair flowers in my hair.

I have the shop closed until I go through my things tomorrow.  Happy Saturday!

Just for fun

Here are my answers to Rachel's questions:

1. When do you feel happiest?
When I'm wearing a cute outfit, the weather is warm, and I get to hang out with my favorite boys.

2. How do you take care of yourself?
I don't work TOO hard. :D

3. Are you internally (by yourself) or externally (by others) motivated?
Both?

4. What do you do for fun?
Read, take long hot baths, tickle Felix, craft (of course!), THRIFT

5. What intimidates you?
Driving in the city.

6. What is something you're proud of?
So far I'm the most proud of creating Felix.

7. Finish this sentence. I never _____________.
I never want to clean the bathroom in my bedroom. It's absolutely filthy because nobody sees it but me and Chainsaw. It's probably unsanitary. I'll clean it next week. ;)

8. Favorite vacation spot.
The beach. I'm overwhelmed by the hugeness and the glory of the ocean, even though it's pretty scary to me (too many creatures and forces of nature!).

9. Today is a (rate from 1 - 10).
7

10. Finish this sentence. If you knew me really well you'd know that I am the master of thinking up songs about bodily functions on the spot. That's why Felix loves me so much.

Ballyhoo crunch time crafting

If I've learned nothing else from Rachael Ray, I am thankful for the brilliance of the garbage bowl.

SDC11394

It has come in very handy lately with my crunch time crafting, which I was hoping to avoid (thanks flu!). I love throwing my strings and teeny tiny scraps in it. That way they're easily contained and easy to toss when I'm ready to take a trip to the trash can.

SDC11397

Here is a quick shot of a few wallets basking in the sunlight. Aren't they pretty? These are going straight to the fair this weekend. Do not pass go, do not go to etsy. I just don't have the time.

Colorado kids should come visit Melissa (my sidekick this Saturday) and I in Denver this weekend.

CraftyBallyhoo

There's going to be all kinds of fun stuff going on, like a cake walk (!!!), demonstrations, materials swap, and all kinds of creative goodness. I hope to see some of you there! :D
